Some of you may know that a couple of years ago I had the oportunity to take a cross country road trip from Cincinnati, Ohio to Scottsdale, Arizona. I was attending a seminar held by Jack Canfield. Sure I could have taken a flght in just a few hours but since I had the time and had always wanted to see this beautiful country I live in, I opted for a 3 week roadtrip.
As I was planning my route, I decided that no trip out west would be complete without a visit to The Grand Canyon. I did some research and found there was a small town about 65 miles from it, where I could take a train ride to a viewing area and back. Knowing that I had to drive about 2000 miles to get home, I took the oportunity to take a break and ride, while enjoying the splendor of the scenery.
When I got to Wlliams, Arizona, I was delighted to find a town with an Old West Appeal. The town was small, but so quaint. I stayed the night in a small inn with only 10 rooms. It had a little table and chair to enjoy your coffee in the morning, or the sunset at night.
When morning came and I arrived at the Wiliams Depot, we were treated to an Old West Horse Show that even included a shootout with a staged train robbery on the way home. It was a lot of fun and the tour guide on the train really was informative. The ride lasts approximately 2-1/2 hours with about 4 hours to tour the museums, and view the amazing scenery there. You may think that is a long train ride just to get to your destination, but it went by quickly. We were entertained by a tour guide as well as some other musical entertainment. I was worried that it might not be enough time actually spent at the Grand Canyon, but there was plenty of time to walk around, take pictures and eat lunch before catching the train back to Williams.
I’ve often seen pictures of the Grand Canyon, but after being there, no picture could do it justice. The colors and landscapes were so spectacular and as the light changed, so did the colors of the canyon. This is one trip I would highly recommend to everyone .
I’ve attached only a few of the pictures from our view, but they do not do it justice. If you ever have the opportunity to go see this spectacular natural landmark, you have got to do it.
